Jorge Manuel is the Chief Designer and Couturier for Jorge Manuel, Inc., a bridal design studio and manufacturer headquartered in Miami, Florida. The designer confectioned his first design at the age of 17, and continued designing and manufacturing full-time for private clients and boutiques since 2001. The entire process – from sketching and fabric selection to production and manufacturing – takes place in Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s headquarters in Miami, Florida.
Jorge Manuel’s 2009 -2010 collections embody the designer’s versatility - his creations juxtapose Caribbean femininity with Asian minimalism, and cubist designs with Art Deco flourishes, making for a unique signature touch that is his alone. Details such as asymmetrical trains and necklines, hand-formed and embroidered flowers, bodices encrusted in crystal and fine laces, vaporous tulles, and unique silhouettes, set his collection apart from the norm of today’s wedding finery. His designs are known for an exquisite attention to detail, and every hand-made, hand- embroidered creation is a work of art, both inside and out. “A bridal gown is more than a simple garment,” explains Jorge Manuel, “It is a woman’s dream taking shape in fabric and lace.”
Jorge Manuel’s Spring 2010 Demetrius collection, inspired by the magic and timelessness of Lewis Carol’s Alice in Wonderland, will debut this year at both the Chicago and the New York Bridal Markets. Some gowns from his new collection will also be available for preview. In addition, Jorge Manuel will travel extensively this year with his collections to trunk shows throughout the United States. “I never want to forget whom it is I am designing for, and seeing firsthand that special moment when a woman finds ‘the one,’ that elusive gown that fulfills a lifetime of dreams – I just don’t want to miss that.”
Jorge Manuel’s first collection, The Etelvina collection, was unveiled at a Jorge Manuel fashion show to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In connection with a local television broadcaster, Univision 23, Jorge Manuel donated a gown to a breast cancer survivor, who wore it her wedding - a wedding she at one time believed she would not live to see. “I believe this was one of my best moments,” remembers Jorge Manuel, “sharing the gift of a dream fulfilled with someone who just refused to give up.” |
