After weeks and weeks of entries, Jorge Manuel and Maddison Row proudly announces the winner of the first annual UPON A STAR win a couture wedding gown contest! Together they would like to appreciate all those that entered in the contest. Each entry gave us the chance to hear their moving love stories, understand the beautiful outlook of brides-to-be on the definition of love and the opportunity to have met such wonderful brides who truly value art in a wedding dress. Without further ado...It is with greatest pleasure that this year's winner for the UPON A STAR competition is announced as JEANINE LALONDE from Charlottesville, Virginia. Her essay and questionnaire moved the judges and ultimately gained the greatest number of points between the five(5) semi-finalists. It is a pleasure for Jorge Manuel to pass on the gorgeous "STAR" gown to Jeanine who will wear the one-of-a-kind couture gown down the aisle! When you wish UPON A STAR anything is possible! Where can I take a look at the dress up for grabs?

Jorge Manuel and Maddison Row will be revealing the gown at the Maddison Row boutique at 171 Spring Street, Charleston, SC 29403 on the night of FEBRUARY 10, 2011. The official start of the competition is on February 10, 2011. NO ENTRIES will be accepted before February 10, 2011.

How to participate?

If you are in the South Carolina area you can pick up an entry form at Maddison Row bridal salon located at 171 Spring Street, Charleston, SC 29403. If not, please submit your entry by e-mail to contest@jorgemanuelweddings.

Why an Essay?

We want to know more about you, your heart-felt encounter with love and the beautiful process of wedding planning. Tell us a little about your dream wedding and how this dress will make it all that sweeter.

What do I need to participate?

Contestant must a U.S. resident and have legal status in the United States of America and be at least 18 years of age with a verifiable wedding date after May 30th, 2011 allowing time for alterations. Alterations may be made at any seamstress or salon at winner's discretion. Contestant must complete their entry with a 300-600 word essay and photo.

What do I need in my essay?

Entry must be a three-hundred to six-hundred (300-600) word essay defining the contestant's meaning of love, a description how she came about with the theme of her wedding and why the dress up for grabs fits perfectly with her personality and wedding decor. All three questions must be answered to qualify as an entry.

Where do I submit my entry?

Either in person at Maddison Row bridal salon located at 171 Spring Street, Charleston, SC 29403 or via e-mail to contest@jorgemanuelweddings.com.

When does the Competition close for entries? When will be the Semi-finalists be selected?

No entry will be accepted after March 10th, 2011. The five (5) semi-finalists will be selected on March 15, 2011. Contestants must check JORGE MANUEL website at www.jorgemanuelweddings.com to view semi-finalists.

How is the winner selected?

The five (5) semi-finalists will be featured on the JORGE MANUEL website where the Public will vote and choose the winner. Semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges from both sponsors JORGE MANUEL and Maddison Row.

When is the winner selected?

The winner will be announce on the JORGE MANUEL website on March 30, 2011. Prize may be claimed at Maddison Row bridal salon at 171 Spring Street, SC 29403 anytime after this date.

 

 

Jorge Manuel’s [Upon a Star] ‘Win A Couture Wedding Gown Contest’

Official Rules & Regulations

1. Entry Materials. To enter the Upon A Star ("Contest") sponsored by Jorge Manuel, Inc., please visit the website ( "jorgemanuelweddings.com") at any time during the Contest Period (as defined below) and follow the instructions for submitting each of the following as one entry (collectively, the “Entry Materials”) sent to contest@jorgemanuelweddings.com (Official e-mail for participation in an entry):

One (1) photo of the future bride and/or one (1) photo of the future bride and groom;

One (1) three-hundred to six-hundred (300-600) word essay describing the contestant’s definition of love, the theme to her wedding and why the dress up for grabs fits perfectly with her personality and wedding decor. All three questions must be answered to qualify as an entry.

One (1) completed entry form.

Contestants must submit their Entry Materials online. Any incomplete, inaccurate, or illegible entries are void and will not be considered. Entry Materials will not be returned to the contestant and become the physical property of Jorge Manuel, Inc.

2. Entry Period. The Contest will begin at 12:00:01 AM (ET) on February 10, 2011 and all entries must be received by 11:59:59 P.M. (ET) on March 10, 2011 (the "Contest Period"). We expect to announce the winner no later than March 30, 2011. All dates and times are subject to change at Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s discretion.

3. Eligibility and Restrictions on Contestants. The Contest is open only to those with a verifiable wedding date after May 30, 2011, allowing the bride enough time for alterations. Alterations are the responsibility of the bride. Prospective U.S. contestants must be older than eighteen (18) years of age as of the date their entry is received. Eligibility of any contestant, Award Recipient, Finalist or Prize Winner is subject to verification by Jorge Manuel, Inc. and its agents, and Jorge Manuel Inc. may require a copy of the relevant passport, driver’s license or birth certificate as proof of age and state of residence and require the Winner to sign additional agreements regarding the prize awarded as well as representations, disclaimers and rights granted to publicize the Finalists and Winners and reprint their submissions. Employees of Jorge Manuel, Inc., Maddison Row, or any Contest sponsor or of their respective corporate affiliates are not eligible, nor are persons living in the same household as, or who are immediate family members of such persons. Contestants from outside the U.S. acknowledge that the Contest is governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, U.S.A. and agree to bear sole responsibility for any inconsistency between such laws and those in other jurisdictions. Ineligibility or provision of false, incomplete or inaccurate information may result in immediate disqualification.

4. Essays. Each essay submitted must be in the English language or submitted with an English translation and must be the contestant's original work. Essays may have multiple co-writers, but you must designate one name only on the entry form, and the named contestant must own or control 100% of the essay and the underlying composition(s) or must have the express consent of each co-writer to enter the Essay in the Contest in accordance with these Official Rules & Regulations. Essays may not exceed six-hundred (600) words in length. Submissions must not contain obscenity, defamatory or libelous material, unauthorized copyrighted material, or anything else that could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, as determined solely by Jorge Manuel, Inc. Submissions must not include any viruses, corrupted files or other harmful software elements.

Contestants may submit as many qualifying essays as they wish, but each entry requires submission of separate Entry Materials and may only be made in accordance with the terms of these Official Rules & Regulations. Jorge Manuel, Inc. is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, corrupted or misappropriated entries, nor for Internet delay or failure, outages or overload of the Website, faulty file uploads accompanying online entries, or other occurrences beyond its reasonable control.

5. Judging. A panel of at least three (3) readers selected by Jorge Manuel, Inc., will select five (5) Finalists from among all eligible contestant entries based on the Judging Criteria and procedures determined by Jorge Manuel, Inc. Each Finalist will be featured on the Website. Visitors to the website will evaluate each Finalist Essay and shall select a Winner based on their preference. All decisions made by the Visitors in accordance with Jorge Manuel, Inc. procedures are final.

6. Finalists, Winners, Award Recipients and Prizes. Five (5) U.S. Finalists will be publicly announced by posting on the Jorge Manuel, Inc. Website on or about March 30, 2011. THE ODDS OF BEING CHOSEN AS A FINALIST, AWARD RECIPIENT OR PRIZE WINNER ARE DEPENDENT UPON THE NUMBER AND QUALITY OF ESSAY ENTRIES RECEIVED (BASED ON THE JUDGING CRITERIA) FROM ALL ELIGIBLE CONTESTANTS.

One (1) U. S. Finalist will be selected by the Visitors of the Website as the Grand Prize Winner and will receive a Jorge Manuel wedding gown (MSRP $5720). The Grand Prize Winner is not able to resell the gown within two years of the award date.

Travel, shipping, and alteration expenses incurred in accepting any prize are the sole responsibility of the Winner or Award recipient.

Prizes will be awarded to the contestant named on the entry. Prizes are non-transferable and all taxes are the sole responsibility of each respective Award recipient and Winner, who must each submit necessary tax information and will receive a U.S. 1099 tax form for receipt of any prize(s) valued at Six Hundred U.S. Dollars ($600) or more.

7. Rights Granted to Jorge Manuel, Inc. For good and valuable consideration, including Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s review and consideration of Entry Materials, each contestant grants Jorge Manuel, Inc. the following rights: Each contestant (including all Finalists, Winners and Award recipients) irrevocably grants permission to Jorge Manuel and its affiliates, sponsors and licensees to use the contestant’s name, address (city and state), likeness, and the submitted essay(s) for Contest and Website advertising and promotional purposes without compensation, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised, including, without limitation, on the Jorge Manuel Website and on partner and affiliate websites or for reprint in any physical medium.

8. Miscellaneous. This Contest is subject to all applicable laws, including, without limitation, U.S. federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest, or who does not fully comply with these Official Rules & Regulations, will be ineligible for prizes and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. All contestants, regardless of any participation in any prior year’s contest or other affiliation with Jorge Manuel, Inc., must submit to all rules, regulations, terms and conditions for this Contest and complete a new submission for each Contest Essay entry. If, for reasons beyond Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s control, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, Jorge Manuel, Inc., at its sole discretion, reserves the right to postpone or modify or cancel the Contest, without liability, in which case notice will be posted on Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s Website. All interpretations of these rules and regulations and decisions by Jorge Manuel, Inc. are final. Contestants may not assign, delegate or otherwise transfer any or all of their rights or responsibilities hereunder. Jorge Manuel, Inc. may assign, delegate or otherwise transfer any or all of its rights and/or responsibilities hereunder. Contestant represents and warrants to Jorge Manuel, Inc. that their Entry Materials and all other information and materials provided to Jorge Manuel, Inc. are true, complete and correct in all material respects. Jorge Manuel, Inc. and its sponsors and licensees will have no liability for, and each contestant releases and agrees to defend, indemnify and hold Jorge Manuel, Inc. and its sponsors and licensees harmless from and against, any and all damage, loss and/or liability resulting from or associated with his or her Entry Materials, participation in the Contest, breach of these Official Rules & Regulations, or any use, misuse, acceptance or possession of any prize. Jorge Manuel, Inc.’s liability is limited to a contestant’s entry fee and, if applicable, the value of any prize to which such contestant may be entitled hereunder.

9. Governing Law and Forum. THE INTERNAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA SHALL GOVERN THE CONTEST WITHOUT REGARD TO CONFLICT OF LAWS PRINCIPLES, AND THE STATE AND FEDERAL COURTS LOCATED IN SOUTH CAROLINA, U.S.A. SHALL HAVE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OVER ANY CONTROVERSIES REGARDING THE CONTEST. EACH CONTESTANT WAIVES ANY AND ALL OBJECTIONS TO JURISDICTION AND VENUE IN THOSE COURTS AND HEREBY SUBMITS TO THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF THOSE COURTS.
