Alice Versus The Red Queen
See The Full Campaign

The Queen scene for Alice was a tricky one for the designer. There is a certain element that you can't do without in this shot. "It is perhaps one of my favorite parts of the book. But, unfortunately I just couldn't picture the scene without the 'playing cards'. So I decided to have Alice painting a playing card rather than helping the playing cards paint the roses red, that which enraged the queen to cut off 'their heads,'" replies Jorge Manuel.

The designer chose the dress because of its beautiful back. The symmetry within the picture divided by the easel and playing cards is exactly what Jorge Manuel wanted. Both characters run parallel between each other, but at different ends of emotions. The angry queen was no match for sweet innocent Alice.
