FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Jorge Manuel Weddings is an online store that allows brides to purchase their wedding gowns exclusively with the manufacturer directly.

  1. How long does it take for me to receive my dress/veil after I have placed my order?

Your order is custom-made and all the exquisite hand-beading and hand-encrusted work takes months to confect. You can expect your gown to take anywhere between 5-6 months, depending on how intricate the gown is, from time of order being placed.

  2. How long does it take for me to receive my veil after I have placed my order?

A veil can take anywhere between 2-3 months after order has been placed. The length of production time depends on the intricacy of the veil.

  3. What happens if I have to cancel my order? Can I request a refund?
Orders may be cancelled if they are requested through email within five (5)  calendar days after order is placed. Because so much work goes into each gown/veil, and each order is custom to each bride, we can not accept returns after (5) days of order being placed as fabrics and embroideries supplies have been purchased and work commenced on your one-of-a-kind gown. No refunds will be issued after (5) days of order being placed. If order is within the (5) calendar day requirement, refunds will be processed immediately and issued. The length of time for refund to show on your bank/credit card will depend on the financial institution’s processing time. Usual time frame is between 1-2 weeks.
  4. How wise it for me to purchase a wedding gown/veil on line?

Jorge Manuel wedding gowns are classic silhouettes. What you see is what you get! We strive on providing as many references with images and videos (in real time) on our product pages. We also offer zoom or facetime appointments to specifically show you the gown’s details, and go over any questions or information you may need.

  5. How do I know the fit of the gown fits me? or if it is the right shape for me?

We carry standard classic and timeless bridal silhouettes. Although we are capable of providing designs with asymmetrical features and extreme fit-to-flair silhouettes, we understand the nature of the business and the integrity of the “the bridal look.” Which is why we focus and stay within standard bridal silhouettes (ex. A-lines, Ballgowns, and trumpets skirts) that is a straight-forward “you get what you see,” approach. For example, a ball gown silhouette is cut at the natural waist, and with volume at the skirt. Ultimately, if you have tried on anything with a natural waist and with volume at the skirt, the fit is just that! However, what you are choosing in a Jorge Manuel gown, is not the silhouette (fit) of the gown per say [this is handled later at alterations], but rather, the DESIGN of the details of the gown. The bodice shape and silhouette of the skirt remains the same regardless of what details you choose for your gorgeous gown.

  6. What size do I order?

Alterations are important, as this is the process where the gown will be corrected to fit your exact body shape. At time of ordering, you will order the closest size to your measurements. For example, if you are ordering a gown that is an A-line or Ballgown (70% of the styles we offer in our line) you will only need to focus on your bust and waist measurements. Depending on which of the two measurement is the biggest, that will determine what size to choose. However, an email is always send after your order is placed with us to verify these measurements and ensure that the client has selected the proper size. Although sizes are standards (ex, size 2 or size 10 etc.) Keep in mind, regardless, alterations to bridal gowns will always be necessary. Make sure to hire a professional seamstress or store when taking your dress to get altered.

  7. How to go about Alterations of my gown once I receive it?

Alterations are the most important, because they ensure that the fit and length of the gown is perfect. Do not be alarmed if at receiving of the your gown, the dress is slightly bigger than expect (considering that the client has not fluctuated in sizes since time of ordering), because in alterations these variances are addressed and fixed. Depending on the request of the client and the approval of our production team, bust and waist measurements can be tailored as per client’s submitted measurements. Meaning that the gown is cut and made by those specifications from the beginning, helping get as close as fit as possible by the time you receive your gown. Alterations will ALWAYS be necessary either way. The length of the gown and the bustle are also only handled in the end by alterations. The height of the shoe you decide to wear on your big day, and the style of the bustle are details that should be discussed with your alterations specialist and it is not handled by our production team.

  8. Do you offer alterations for your gowns?

We do! However, our studio is located in Miami, Florida in the downtown area. Most alterations cost $500 and up in any bridal gown store or alterations specialist. Historically, brides who purchase our gowns have instead flown to Miami to get alterations done directly with us. The gown is fitted on day of arrival. Depending on the complexity of the alterations, most gowns are fixed within 24 hours after the first fitting. Then the bride has her final fitting the next day. Any small tweaks are handled same day and the bride is able to take her gown back home perfectly altered to her body and height.

Most brides take the opportunity to visit our beautiful city and make a weekend trip out of it! And instead, use the cost of alterations they would incur back home, to get the dress altered by the team that created the gown!

Moreover, there are several reputable alterations specialists nationwide that are more than capable of altering your wedding dress, if you decide to get your gown sized in your area.

Please note: We are not responsible for any mishaps you may encounter with your alterations specialist when altering your gown and cannot correct alterations mistakes after the fact.

  9. How do bridal stores handle alterations?

Bridal stores follow this same exact protocol when ordering a gown from manufacturers and designers like us for their clients who purchase the gown at their store. Bridal stores order the closest size to their client’s measurements and handle the fit later in alterations when gown is received. It is important to point out, that not all bridal stores have in-house alterations department, and outsource or refer brides to a reputable alterations specialist.

  10. Why should I choose a Jorge Manuel Gown/ Veil?

If you are bride that wishes to wear something “uniquely different, but classic and beautiful at the same time,” then a Jorge Manuel gown and veil is for you.

    a. Jorge Manuel only produces 25 pieces of any one style. After the 25th piece is produce, the gown placed in the vault and no longer produced afterwards. This is done purposely to ensure the exclusivity of your gown. Only 24 other bride’s in the world would have worn the dress you will wear down the aisle. Your gown maintains the highest value and exclusivity standards you won’t find in any other bridal company. Most retail stores and manufacturers will sell the same style of gown a couple of hundred times to buyers in the same region. Your “something uniquely different,” will end up being “something already seen over and over walk down the aisle.”

    b. The designer hand-draws and creates each embroidery piece, that is his and his design alone. His gowns are extremely difficult to reproduce or even copy. Each dress confected with the finest materials in true Haute Couture fashion. The workmanship is due in part because of the in-house production team that learned the trade passed down by their grandmothers. An “old-world,” approach to dress-making that does not abide by today’s “fast, machine-paced” business model. Bridal gowns are produced nowadays by manufacturers as a more “commercial” business practice and hundreds of the same wedding dresses are made disregarding the quality, workmanship, style and design. Quantity over quality is the most important business focus to their business model.

    c. The ability to deal directly with the creator and manufacturer of the dress that produces all his work in the USA.  There is a rest-easy feel when ordering a JORGE MANUEL gown with the ever-changing risky climate we are living currently of bridal boutiques not being able to receive merchandise from overseas on time or receive the merchandise at all.

    d. We are a phone call or email away in answering all of your questions, as well as virtual appointments, that will help you make the right choice on the single most important dress you are to wear in your life. Our team is ready to provide you with all the help you need before purchasing your gown, so that you have all the necessary information to make a wise purchase. During the creation process, where we will keep you inform of the production progress of your dress, and after where in any case we can speak directly speak to the alteration’s specialist of your choice to help in any way we can to ensure your gown fits your like a glove on the big day!
